Product Overview
The GYTA53 is an outdoor armored fiber optic cable engineered for directly buried and heavy-duty installations. Inside the cable, 200um or 250um bare fibers are positioned in loose tubes made of high modulus plastic, and every tube is filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A steel wire, sheathed with polyethylene (PE) when a high fiber count requires additional strength, runs through the center of the core as the metallic strength member, and the tubes and fillers are stranded around it into a compact and circular cable core. An Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) is applied around the core as the moisture barrier, followed by an inner PE sheath. A PSP steel tape is then longitudinally applied over the inner sheath for armor, and the cable is completed with a PE outer sheath. With support for up to 144 cores, the GYTA53 combines mechanical robustness, crush resistance and a multi-layer watertight design for reliable long-haul and LAN transmission.

FAQ
Q1. Why is the GYTA53 cable with a double jacket and PSP steel tape armor suitable for direct burial?
The GYTA53 uses a double-jacket construction: an inner PE sheath protects the cable core, while a PSP steel tape is longitudinally applied over it and an outer PE sheath completes the cable. The steel tape armor provides crush resistance and mechanical protection, and the multi-layer moisture barrier (APL plus water-blocking compound) keeps the core dry, making the cable suitable for direct burial in demanding outdoor environments.
Q2. What is the difference between steel tape armor and aluminum tape armor?
Steel tape armor (PSP) offers higher mechanical strength, crush resistance and protection against rodents and external damage, which is why it is used for direct burial and heavy-duty installations. Aluminum tape armor (APL) is primarily a moisture barrier with lighter weight. The GYTA53 combines both: APL is applied around the cable core as the moisture barrier, and PSP steel tape is used as the armor layer for mechanical protection.
Q3. What applications is the GYTA53 optical cable suitable for?
The GYTA53 is designed for long distance communication and local area network (LAN) communication, and can be installed aerially or in conduit/duct. Its armored double-jacket construction also makes it suitable for directly buried outdoor routes.
Q4. What is the maximum fiber count of the GYTA53 cable?
The GYTA53 supports up to 144 cores, providing high fiber density for long-haul backbone and metropolitan network applications.
Q5. How does the GYTA53 achieve its watertight design?
The watertight design relies on multiple coordinated layers: a steel wire central strength member, water-resistant filling compound inside the high modulus plastic loose tubes, an APL moisture barrier, PSP steel tape that enhances moisture-proof performance, and additional water-blocking material. Together these layers prevent water ingress along the cable.
